about the programme - CAM -SDGs 25 Project
Addressing Climate Change Through Innovation and Collaboration
The Green Futures Africa Programme is a comprehensive initiative spanning from March to September 2025, designed to equip young leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the pressing challenges of climate change.
- Key Program Components:
- Pre-Departure Program: In-depth workshops and seminars on climate change science, impacts, and mitigation/adaptation strategies. Explore the role of machine learning in addressing climate challenges, including predictive modeling for extreme weather events, optimizing renewable energy systems, and developing sustainable agriculture practices, etc.
- Dubai Study Tour: An immersive experience in Dubai, exploring cutting-edge sustainable city initiatives like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (one of the largest solar parks in the world). Attend workshops on climate change, and engage with global experts.
- Project Implementation Phase: Develop and implement community-based projects aimed at addressing climate change challenges within your local communities. Participants will be formed into project groups during the program and work under the supervision of project consultants (lecturers from participating universities). The Southwest Institution will facilitate project development and implementation, providing guidance and networking opportunities. This phase is multisectoral and will also enhance career possibilities for students.
- Focus on Inclusivity: We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, with a specific emphasis on women and people with diverse abilities/PWDs. Women are encouraged to contact the Ag. Coordinator of the Women for Sustainable Action (WfSA) initiative for information on special incentives.
- Accommodation: Participants will be accommodated at the Radisson Blu Dubai Waterfront (a five-star hotel), Business Bay, Dubai, offering a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the city.
