Green Futures Africa Programme - Dubai Study Tour Application

Eligibility:

• Open to all tertiary undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Women are encouraged to apply by contacting the coordinator of the Women for Sustainable Action (WfSA) initiative for information on special incentives. Please contact Daniella (+233 54 810 7734) for more information on registering through the WfSA initiative.
• Applications are also welcomed from individuals with diverse abilities/PWDs.

1. Application Submission:

a) Begin by filling the google form provided by your Campus Representative. Please contact 054 810 7734 to be assigned your Campus Representative. Fill the additional application form below and upload the required documents including the biodata page of your passport as well as your passport size photograph.

b) Application Fee: Application is free. For all applicants who will be requesting letters of sponsorship from our office as well as our assistance in facilitating funding for the trip, a non-refundable application fee of GH¢ 180.00 is required.

2. Required Documents(Please upload copies of these at the "upload section" below):

a) Proof of Enrollment: Current student ID card or letter of enrollment from your current institution.
b) Passport: A copy of your valid passport with at least 6 months of validity beyond the program dates.
c) Medical Declaration Form: Complete and submit the Personal Medical Declaration Form as per the instructions provided.
d) Essay/Statement of Purpose: Submit a short essay (not more than 500 words) outlining your interest in climate change, your goals for the program, and how you plan to contribute to environmental sustainability. Please send your statement of purpose to daniella@greenfutures.africa

Note: There are additional forms you will upload after submitting the initial documents (a,b,d) including the personal medical declaration form. These will be provided by the project office.

3. Program Fee (Study Tour):

The program fee will cover:

i. Round-trip airfare from Accra to Dubai and return.
ii. Accommodation at a 5-star hotel in Dubai (Radisson Blu Dubai Waterfront).
iii. All meals during the study tour.
iv. Internal transportation within Dubai.
v. Costs associated with workshops, seminars, and cultural activities.
vi. Dubai Tourism Dirham Fee.
vii. Visa fees and processing.

Financial Assistance: The Southwest Institution will assist eligible participants who may face financial constraints in covering program costs. This may include issuing letters of sponsorship to facilitate funding applications from external sources.

4. Pre-Departure Checklist:

a) Passport & Visa: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the program dates. Obtain necessary visas and travel documents.
b) Travel Insurance: Review and understand the terms of your travel insurance coverage.
c) Medical Check-up: Consult with your physician regarding any necessary vaccinations or medical precautions.
d) Pack Essentials: Prepare your luggage with appropriate clothing, toiletries, and any necessary personal items.
e) Travel Arrangements: Confirm flight details and travel arrangements with The Southwest Institution.
f) Emergency Contacts: Ensure your emergency contacts are updated and easily accessible.
g) Program Information: Review all program materials, including the itinerary, code of conduct, and contact information for program staff.

5. Program Logistics:

a) The Southwest Institution will provide detailed logistical information regarding travel arrangements, accommodation, and program schedules closer to the departure date.
